Community Habilitation Position

Job Description

Provide one-to-one support to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to help develop their skills in living more independently in their homes and/or in the community. As a Com-Hab (Community Habilitation), you can build a bond with the individual through the activities you both would participate in together. Activities are usually focused towards their daily living skills and social skills, however, every individual has their own specific needs based upon their goals. Sometimes the specific activities can be biking, nature walks, painting, vacuuming, laundry folding, table wiping, meal prepping, movie-time, shopping and more. The individual can be assisted through verbal prompting, hand-over-hand guidance and/or modeling the motion. "Sometimes" they may need transportation from one site to the next, which you'd be reimbursed for. Other cases may just take place in their home or community site, where transporting them is not needed.

When you are contacted, an interview will be scheduled with Thomas Nguyen (Owner of LE&P) to discuss the needs, availabilities, background etc. 

If all goes as planned, a meet with the family will be setup to further understand the specific needs, while becoming more familiar with the setting. 

If the family is interested in hiring, a trial may be initiated to get a better feel of the work flow and familiarity.

Note: Trial(s) would be compensated

If all feels manageable and comfortable for the family and the candidate, the hiring process would begin.
