About Social Thrive

Social Thrive is a welcoming hub for inclusive, creative, and skill-based classes that foster growth, connection, and confidence. Each 1 hour class focuses on fostering skills and independence through thoughtful, engaging instruction—while also giving participants the chance to share the experience with friends.

Our activities are designed to encourage continuous, expressive involvement. For example, in our planting class, it’s not just about planting seeds; students also decorate their pots in a variety of ways to make the experience more personally engaging and fun. We don’t just focus on the major steps; we pay attention to the small ones that go a long way. Social Thrive emphasizes providing classes that are both enjoyable and tailored to each participant.

To support social connection and personalized attention—without the overwhelm—classes are semi-private, limited to just three adult students (age 18+) per session. Each class is led by an experienced instructor, with an assistant available to ensure sessions run smoothly. At Social Thrive, we sweat the small details so participants can enjoy an enriching and satisfying experience.

What We Believe

Social Thrive believes that growth happens through experience, connection, and consistency. We believe every individual deserves opportunities to build skills, express themselves creatively, and feel confident in their abilities. Progress isn’t only found in big milestones — it’s found in the small, repeated moments of practice, encouragement, and engagement.

We believe learning should feel meaningful and enjoyable—not overwhelming. That’s why we create supportive, inclusive environments where participants feel comfortable, engaged, and empowered to move at their own pace. Our approach is grounded in patience, personalization, and genuine human connection..

At Social Thrive, we believe that when people feel seen, supported, and capable, they thrive — socially, skillfully, and personally.

About The Team

Thomas V Nguyen

Startup Founder

I started this company with a simple goal: to create a meaningful space where connection, ability, and progress come together. After more than 10 years working one-on-one with an autistic individual—whom I now proudly call a friend—and 3 years supporting individuals with I/DD, I discovered how powerful it is to design creative experiences around each person’s interests and strengths. By building genuine relationships, understanding individual needs, and supporting real growth, I found deep fulfillment in the work. What started as individualized support naturally evolved into independently exploring and participating in a wide range of DIY projects and community-based classes. From there, I began collaborating in small groups, exchanging ideas and refining skills. As my skills and experience expanded, so did the vision. Then came Social Thrive — classes open to the entire community, designed to offer an in-depth, hands-on experience in expressive skill and creativity while providing opportunity for social connection. Outside of my work, I enjoy exploring cultural foods, building small crafts, spending time outdoors, exercising, and playing sports.

Deanna Burch

Creative Instructor

I’m excited to be a part of Social Thrive as a Creative Instructor. Outside of work, I spend most of my time making art in any capacity I can—from canvas paintings to murals in establishments throughout the community. Art has always been my way to understand myself and the world around me, communicate, and connect with others. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, and playing video games like Elden Ring. I graduated cum laude in May 2025 with a double bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Fine Arts. During my time in school, I worked in a microbiology research lab, completed independent studies in both painting and women in art, tutored in the biology department, and led campus and community paint events for people of all backgrounds. I’ve also led a painting event at a community home dedicated to individuals with brain injuries. Alongside the many diverse groups I’ve worked with, I also have personal and professional experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Watching my dad navigate ALS taught me firsthand how easily people can be misunderstood when their needs fall outside what others are used to. I learned how essential it is to treat every person with patience, dignity, and genuine understanding. It has shaped my commitment to meeting people where they are, rather than where others expect them to be, and then finding just how far they can go. I’ve learned that while some people may have a harder time finding a point of connection, everyone has the capacity to communicate deeply and beautifully; we just have to discover how and in which mediums their expression thrives. Matching someone’s individual needs is not only important, it’s essential. I joined Social Thrive because it feels like a place where my passion, skills, and lived experiences all align. I want to create a space where participants feel safe, seen, and encouraged to express themselves in ways that feel natural and empowering. I hope in teaching and sharing my love of art, I am able to help build confidence, bring joy, and also learn from every individual I have the privilege to work with.
